I show how an organization of award-winning children's nonfiction authors created a free resource on the web of multimedia, short (400-word) essays that has become a huge hit -- by July, we anticipate more than 3 million page views in two years. This recent blog post explains the Nonfiction Minute more fully. https://www.vickicobbsblog.com/blog/getting-our-foot-in-the-classroom-door-the-nonfiction-minute

The Nonfiction Minute has been so successful that a series of print books compiling our essays (based upon themes) has been published by Quarto. The first book of biographies, "30 People Who Changed Our World" (published October 2017) and the second, "30 Animals Who Share Our World" (April 2018), have received excellent reviews. The biography collection received a NCSS-CBC Notable Award.
I present with one of our contributors, Roxie Munro, author/illustrator, most recently of "Masterpiece Mix" and "Rodent Rascals" (three starred reviews). My colleague will be beamed in via Zoom room technology, thus enabling full interactivity with the audience. The Nonfiction Minute website: http://www.nonfictionminute.org/
