After years of using Seesaw, the student driven digital portfolio app, we still had shallow, uninformed reflections of learning. Following many discussions and drawing from various PD experiences a few teachers got together to try and fix this. We developed an approach focusing around reflection prompts to guide students thinking, ultimately developing a ‘learning mindset’. The prompts, together with defining a way of working, were instrumental in transforming reflection from being something added on the end to something students valued as part of the learning process. This session will highlight our journey and give participants practical ways to incorporate reflection routines into their classrooms. In addition to this, participants will see an example of how a digital portfolio can be used to drive changes to the learning that takes place in and around the classroom.
