Colavecchia/Quick - Classroom to Classroom: Shared Learning Experiences Beyond the Classroom Walls

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Technology has the power to create rich-learning environments for students. Learning experiences can extend beyond the four walls of the classroom. This session will focus on how collaborative experiences were designed to change a one-to-one classroom to a one-to-world classroom. Attendees will learn how to build global connections with teachers and students in other school districts, and how these experiences can help teachers develop inquiry based lesson plans.
The presenters will describe their journey developing a collaborative classroom where students work with and communicate with other classes across the country to enhance their learning experience. The presenters will explain their roles in these collaborative ventures as a math teacher and Instructional Technology Specialist who were looking for a way to expose students to multiple viewpoints and perspectives as well as enhancing their understanding of the content.
This session will highlight the enhanced learning experiences that came out of working with classrooms in other parts of the country and the logistics of how to use digital tools and resources to make global collaborations possible. Student artifacts and videos of the classrooms will be shared. If it can be arranged, presenters will bring students to talk about their experience collaborating and learning with students in other classrooms.
