Observe a student playing Minecraft and it’s difficult to ignore the rich narrative as they create worlds. You’ll hear the language of creation, connection, problem solving and care. This panel, led by 10-year old gamer, LivBit, will show the transformative power of Minecraft as a literacy tool in your classroom. Participants will: view screen casts of 10-year old tech enthusiast and gamer, Liv’s, Museum of Me project.; learn how to analyze and frame student understanding of Minecraft challenges; understand the power of feedback given during the gaming process; and hear first-hand from a student voice how this work deepens her literate life.
