Rimmer - Surviving the "Novemberized" Classroom: One Teacher's Practical Approach to Incorporating Alan November's Classroom Strategies
Think you're ready to try Alan November's classroom strategies but don't know where to start? Feeling inspired but overwhelmed? This is the session for you!
Come to my “classroom” and learn how these strategies work from the first day of school.  Don’t count on just sitting idly by. Using hands-on activities, you will learn first-hand my simple 2-step method of implementing Alan November’s ideas. You will witness the real-life results of this method through student work samples and testimonials.
Participants will leave this session ready to actualize ANY of Alan November’s visions in ANY classroom. I promise, you can make the “Novemberized” classroom happen!

Rimmer - Taking a Step Back: Giving Students Ownership of their Learning
Do you feel like you do all the work and your students are just “playing school”?  If students don’t “own” their learning, then they will never see the intrinsic value of the process.  Come to this session to see how student-led decision making has personalized learning in my classroom.
In this session, participants will discuss various ways to more deeply involve students in their own learning processes.  By letting students make decisions about various elements in the classroom, assignments become more real, more practical and more “theirs.”  These strategies apply to everything from daily note-taking to long-term projects, in any classroom, at any grade or academic level. It’s time for students to quit playing and get involved.
